Abstract
In a book about designing impactful PGCerts, this chapter is central: I invite you to view PGCert evaluation not as a bureaucratic add‑on, but as a core part of values‑informed learning design. I prompt you to consider: how can you evaluate your PGCert to refine the provision, and how might you evidence its impact persuasively without reducing it to compliance metrics?
I walk you through these key themes: evaluating the PGCert provision to enhance it; evidencing wider impact on individual participants, their students (including through Theory of Change), their careers and the institution; leveraging the expertise and influence of external examiners to strengthen the PGCert; and making a ‘value for money’ case when required. I offer practical ideas and examples to help you embed multi‑layered evaluation (to track short‑, medium‑ and long‑term impact) and craft credible narratives of value. By the end of the chapter, I hope you will see evaluation as an iterative, reflective practice that both strengthens your PGCert and helps secure its sustainability.
